Starting in 2018, NYSNLA has four categories of state membership:
Active members are businesses that derive a substantial part (75% or more) of their yearly revenue through the green industry. State dues for Active members are based on their gross annual revenue.
Associate members are businesses that derive a portion, but not a substantial portion, of their yearly revenue from the green industry, such as suppliers, insurance companies, etc. State dues for Associate members are $175.
Affiliate members are individuals interested or involved in the green industry, including educators, community garden staff, public office holders, retirees and Certified Nursery & Landscape Professionals (CNLPs) not connected to an Active member company. These members pay state dues of $50 and are not eligible to serve on the state Board of Directors or to vote.
Student members are high-school and college students enrolled in a green or horticulture-related program. Student membership is free, and these members are not eligible to serve on the state board or vote.
All Active and Associate members must pay state dues and must choose and pay dues for at least one regional chapter. Your region is generally the one in which you do the majority of business, and you may choose to belong to and pay dues for more than one region. Regional chapters hold local meetings and events, have their own directors, and set their own dues level.
